English Language Arts (ELA) Teaching Lead:

Program: STEAM Ahead Summer Learning Academy

Program Dates: July 8 - Aug 9th

Compensation: Stipend - Payroll will be processed on a bi-weekly basis after receipt of completed timesheets in accordance with BPS summer payroll schedule.

Responsibilities (Will Include but not limited to):

  • Lead ELA class using Expeditionary Learning curriculum

  • Prepare cognitively-demanding lessons and assignments

  • Establish a productive and positive learning environment & classroom culture

  • Maintain timely student attendance and progress records

Required Qualifications:

  • Current teacher in the Boston Public Schools

  • At least 1 year of formal teaching experience

  • Willing to explore student learning in a non-traditional setting and connect student

    learning through project-based, experiential learning

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the Core Competencies of Effective Teaching established

    by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a BPS summer learning program

  • Fluent in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali

*This is a summer school position. Employment is seasonal and temporary.


Computer Coding Lead Instructor

Program: STEAM Ahead Summer Learning Academy

Program Dates: July 8 - Aug 9th

Compensation: Stipend

Responsibilities (Will Include but not limited to):

  • Teach beginner level computing and coding concepts

  • Teach beginner level coding courses using the following learning platforms: Google CS First, Scratch, Swift

  • Establish a productive and positive learning environment & classroom culture

  • Maintain timely student attendance and progress records

Required Qualifications:

  • Computer Science background or Experience

  • At least 1 year experience working with youth and/or teaching

  • Ability to travel to various sites, in Cambridge and Boston, as needed

  • Authorized to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by first day of employment.
