Steam Ahead’s Youth Leadership Symposium - February 17, 2026 (Wentworth Institute of Technology)

Innovation and sustainability are shaping the future—and young people are at the center of that transformation. The 2026 Winter Youth Leadership Symposium will be hosted in partnership with Wentworth Institute of Technology and will focus on the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal #9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

During the symposium, high school students will explore electrical engineering and its role in building resilient, sustainable systems—from clean energy technologies to smart infrastructure and advanced manufacturing. Through hands-on, project-based activities led by Wentworth faculty and students, participants will gain exposure to real-world engineering challenges, cutting-edge tools, and problem-solving approaches used by engineers today.

The day will also feature leadership and professional development discussions, as well as a career-focused lunch panel with industry professionals, helping students connect technical skills to future college and career pathways. By the end of the symposium, students will collaborate on a design challenge inspired by real-world issues, strengthening their leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking skills while envisioning how engineering can drive positive change in their communities and beyond.
