What if you could use technology to see inside the human body—and help save lives?

At the 2026 Spring Youth Leadership Symposium, students will explore the world of medical imaging and discover how innovation is transforming healthcare. Hosted in partnership with Boston College, this experience connects to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #3: Good Health & Well-Being, highlighting how science and technology are improving lives around the world.

Throughout the day, participants will engage in hands-on learning, connect with college students and industry professionals, and explore how cutting-edge tools are used to diagnose and treat real-world health challenges. Leadership and career-focused sessions will help students understand how their interests can translate into meaningful futures.

Students will also collaborate in teams to tackle a real-world inspired challenge—building skills in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving along the way.

Boston College - Engineering

The Boston College Engineering Department offers a Human-Centered Engineering (HCE) program that combines traditional engineering principles with a strong foundation in the liberal arts. The program is designed to prepare students to apply technical knowledge, design thinking, and interdisciplinary problem-solving to address complex challenges that impact society.

Unlike traditional engineering programs that separate disciplines, Boston College emphasizes a broad, integrated approach, where students explore engineering through areas such as health, energy, and the environment while considering the human and societal impact of their work.

A key feature of the program is its focus on project-based learning and real-world application, with students engaging in hands-on design challenges, collaborative projects, and research opportunities throughout their academic experience.

With small class sizes and a collaborative environment, the department prioritizes faculty mentorship, interdisciplinary learning, and service-oriented engineering, preparing students to become innovative leaders who use engineering to improve communities and contribute to the greater good.
